The 1. FC Nürnberg won the basement duel of the 2nd Bundesliga against VfL Bochum. The FCN leaves the end of the table – and presents Bochum with major problems.
Due to the 2: 1 (0: 0) against Bochum, the previous final light Nuremberg gave the last place in the table to 1. FC Magdeburg and also overtook VfL. Julian Justvan put the FCN in the lead (68th). Ibrahim Sissoko (87.) equalized for Bochum, but Adriano Grimaldi also achieved the Nuremberg Siegtor (90.+2).
At Nuremberg, coach Miroslav Klose was already under pressure. “We knew that we were last”said Klose at Sky. “Nevertheless, we had a good mix of focused work and looseness.”
Bochum, now with four defeats in a row, had released coach Dieter Hecking and sports director Dirk Dufner during the week. U19 coach David Siebers, who supervises the team in terms of interim, did not yet manage the turn in the basement duel – Bochum disappointed. “The team is intact”said Siebers. “After the penalty, we saw a dirty fought out point. Unfortunately, it is tough that this is unfortunately wrong in added time. It was clear that not everything could work.”
Nuremberg superior from the start
Nuremberg was initially the better team and had the first chance of the game. But Pape Diop pushed the ball just past the gate seven meters from the goal from a half -left position (24th). Fabio Gruber then cheered the Nuremberg leadership, but the half-automatic offside recognition introduced for the new season produced a picture that showed an extremely narrow offside position (32nd).
Then the Nuremberg Mohamed Zoma was tempting on the way to the Bochum goal, but Leandro Morgalla saved with a skilful tackle just for Bochum (39th).

After the break, Bochum’s goalkeeper Timo Horn initially preserved from the deficit: Nuremberg’s Berkay Yilmaz had alluded to the Zoma baseline, which was laid down for Julian Justvan – but Horn parried (55.). Bochum remained passive, Nuremberg’s Adam Markhiev only hit the outside (59th).

Dramatic final phase brings Nuremberg the victory
But Tim Janisch then flanked and tore Morgalla around – penalty. Sissoko converted the penalty into the left corner (87th). But Nuremberg still had one answer: Yilmaz flanked a free kick from right into the penalty area, Grimaldi climbed the highest and headed into the winning goal in added time (90.+2). “I was more happy about the second goal than with my own”said Justvan at Sky. “It wasn’t just the last few weeks.” When asked about trainer Klose said: “He always gave me confidence. The goal went to him.” Klose said about Justvan: “He was totally focused in training. He said I should stay relaxed, Saturday is fidgeting on the net.”
Janisch, who caused the penalty, broke out into tears after the final whistle. “If he jumps high, he must have the ball”said Klose. “We have already spoken to him. He is crying, it goes close to such boys who stood in the curve themselves. We trust the boys because we know they can, but we also forgive such mistakes.”
