New rector Petra de Sutter opens UGent academic year: just like in Leuven Pro-Palestin’s protest

Today, the UGent academic year is officially opened. Rector Rik van de Walle also passes the torch to his successor Petra de Sutter. Traditionally, proffs and dignitaries pull through the streets. Pro-Palestinian campaigners, however, already announced an action for the UFO, where the ceremony now takes place completely inside rooms.
