Vanfleteren itself goes into the sea, at night and onion. Photographing in a storm does not require perfection. It is about the enchantment of the moment. The remarkable photos are between historical sea views, such as those of Ensor and Permeke, works lent by Muzee in Ostend. “I grew up in Oostduinkerke. Since the pandemic I have gotten to know that sea intensely again. I thought: I really have to try to photograph that sea. I have to try to decode her.”

‘Transcripts of A Sea’ will open the day after tomorrow to the general public and runs until January 4 in the MSK in Ghent.
