According to NBC News, the police were working on the performance of an arrest warrant in rural areas when they were shot at from a corn field by a man in a camouflage suit.
After the shooter had killed three agents from the corn field, he moved to a home nearby. From there he took two more agents under fire, both injured. One of the wounded agents would have eliminated the shooter in a firefight.
According to a witness, a total of at least thirty times would have been shot. North Codorus is about 150 kilometers west of Philadelphia. The shooter is said to have stalked his ex-wife who lives in a farm in the area.
According to CNN, it is not clear whether the man was waiting for his ex-girlfriend or the agents.
