The Flemish government advises restaurants to avoid words such as ‘vegetarian’ and ‘vegan’ on menus. Such a ‘hippie language use’ would stop customers from ordering a vegetable meal. “Choose neutral letters (V or VE) or use symbols such as a green leaf,” is the advice.
