Judas Priest work behind the scenes to get the release for an official cover version of Black Sabbaths “War Pigs” – to listen to: Ozzy Osbourne. In a recent interview in the “Full Metal Jackie” podcast, front man Rob Halford told about the duet’s recording process, which was created before Ozzy’s death in July.
Sharon Osbourne brought together both
“Ozzy sings a line, then I a line, again ozzy a line, then I have a line,” said Halford. “It is the first time in my whole life that I could do a duet with Ozzy, and I am eternally grateful and blessed that I was able to experience it.”
Halford revealed that Sharon Osbourne brought the two musicians together. She liked the “War Pigs” version that Judas Priest played live several times. “She came up to me and said, ‘I love your version of War Pigs. Is there a way to get Ozzy adding?'”, Halford recalled. “And I like that: ‘You ask me that? That will happen!'”
Halford does not call an official schedule as to when the duet was recorded or when it will be released. But he explained that “the green button was almost ready” and it “quite soon” appeared.
“Colossal” – Halford over the song
“When you hear it, it’s just colossal,” he enthused. “You think you already know the priest version of ‘War Pigs’, but when Ozzy sings along with this track, the whole thing goes to a really special place.”

So far, no posthumous music publications from Osbourne have been published. The musician died of a heart attack on July 22nd. After the news, Halford “rolled up and broke his eyes for hours”. Shortly before his death, Osbourne still appeared in the final episode of “Lego Masters Jr.” on, moderated by his daughter Kelly Osbourne.
