The 25-year-old Bossuyt won the second victory in her career, after a time trial she won in the Netherlands in 2021. After an infringement of the doping rules, the Stasegemse stood aside since the spring of 2023. Only in June did she celebrate her comeback.
“In the last kilometer I did not respond to an acceleration of Lianne Lippert,” says Bossuyt. “I had to recover from the climb of the Citadel, a heavy effort. I was able to position myself well in the last 500 meters for the sprint. I gave everything to win and Karlijn Swinkels was still remonding. This victory is very important to me. It is a very important win after a very difficult period.”
