DLV runner Robert Farken took sixth place at the Athletics World Cup in Tokyo in the final over 1500 meters with an energy performance. Defending champion Josh Kerr from Great Britain was injured, the victory went to Portugal.

At the beginning of the home straight, the 27 -year -old Leipziger, who had been in the back field for a long time, was still ninth. But then Farken ignited the turbo, passed three competitors and rewarded sixth in a time of 3: 35.15 minutes.

“This is a completely different feeling than after the semi -finals. Sixth place at a World Cup in the best season of my life. I am incredibly proud”said farken in the sports show interview. “I have more than clearly demonstrated that I belong here. Today it was not just about being there, but about competitions.”

Farms only through detours in the final

Farken, who improved the German record to 3: 30.80 minutes this season, experienced an up and down at the World Cup in Tokyo. In the lead, he had succeeded in the effortless qualification for the semi -finals. There, however, he could not keep up with the competition on the last 100 meters – however, he was also hindered by Cole Hocker. In retrospect, the Olympic champion was disqualified and Farmken was allowed to start in the final.

Portuguese Nader triumphs

Budapest world champion Josh Kerr killed one and a half laps before the end, so the path was clear for a new title holder. In the end, Isaac Nader from Portugal (3: 34.10) was surprisingly at the front. The Briton Jake Wightman (3: 34.12) secured silver in front of the Kenyan Reynold Cheruiyot (3: 34.25). The highly traded Dutch “miracle runner” of Niels Laros went empty as fifth (3: 34.52). Superstar Jakob Ingebrigtsen from Norway was eliminated in the lead.
