The notorious Arjen Lubach slide is back. The phenomenon in which hundreds of thousands of people are sapping away when a guest comes in his studio is a keeper. “It was that time again yesterday.”
It has become more a problem for RTL 4 than an asset: the daily satire block from Arjen Lubach. The program is gigantic in the late evening of the channel, because the RTL Tonight prestige project starts so late that many people are not even bothered to see what the talk show has to offer.
Lubach slide
RTL 4 struggles enormously with the flow: the target group of that channel is not crazy about Arjen and in recent weeks, for example, has dropped out en masse after B&B full of love. Then there is also an advertising block between Lubach and RTL Tonight, which of course is not properly, and now Arjen also starts with his poorly scoring guests.
It is a Dráma, knows viewing grade authority Tina Nijkamp. “Lubach notes only 456 thousand viewers. The show suffers from the worse intake (B&B has stopped, ed.) And the minute analysis shows that the show immediately falls no less than 120 thousand viewers (from 530 thousand to 410 thousand) when guest Merijn Scholten stands up,” she says on her channel.
Hundreds of thousands
During the conversation with comedian Merijn Scholten, the remaining viewers group is also bored. “Then the show loses another 100 thousand viewers. Guest = slide,” Tina shouts.
How are the third broadcasting week with the Lubach train and RTL Tonight? “Just like in week one, there were no breaks before and during Tonight. And Lubach was 6 (!) Minutes shorter than last Monday. On Thursday, Lubach was shortened for the first time by the leadership of RTL. This is to let RTL Tonight start earlier.”
Mount
Skipping those commercial breaks costs hands full of money. “RTL will now probably also ask the 8.30 pm shows to make seven minutes shorter. Then Lubach will start exactly at 10 p.m.
Anyway: Lubach is a problem. “Well, with so little inflow it will be extra difficult for RTL Tonight to score. Even without breaks and an earlier starting time. Result? 286 thousand viewers and also a not too high 15.5 percent market share,” she says. “The start of this week is therefore even lower than last week: then 297 thousand.”
VI in the lead
The competing talk shows do much better. Today Inside wins with 977 thousand viewers (26 percent in the target group), EVA follows with 834 thousand viewers (11 percent) and Pauw & De Wit comes out at 587 thousand viewers (14 percent).
Only two programs attracted more viewers than today Inside, namely the Achtuurjournaal (1.3 million) and De Slimste Mens (1.1 million). With 760 thousand viewers, Chateau Meiland was the number three on prime time. RTL 4 disappointed on Prime Time with only 544 thousand viewers for help My husband is handyman.
