For many people, Prinsjesdag this year, due to the (double) fall of the cabinet, feels less important. For hairdresser Quinty Heyzer (24) from Geldrop this absolutely does not apply. For her it is a day to remember. As a Beauty & Lifestyle student at Summa College, she received the special invitation to give several politicians a makeover prior to the throne speech. So Quinty went to The Hague on Monday and she was ready in the salon early on Tuesday.

When Quinty woke up on Tuesday morning, she felt the tension pull through her body. “You don’t experience this every day,” she laughs. She was given the honor, among others, to make State Secretary Koen Becking (VVD) TipTop in order for the big moment. Some family members of the protagonists of Prinsjesdag also took a seat in her chair. “I cut five people. I started this morning this morning and was finished after two and a half hours.”

The tension soon disappeared when the hairdresser had her first customer at Salon Aveda in the chair. “They are people like you and me. We talked about their day, how early they had to start, but also about my breakfast in the hotel. We even complained about the weather together. It felt like you are chatting with your neighbor in the garden.”

Invitation
It is not for nothing that Quinty is in The Hague. She participated earlier Skills Heroesthe professional competitions for the MBO, and achieved third place with cutting. That earned her the special invitation to prepare cabinets and MPs for Prinsjesdag. “The top five of this match was given the honor. I was shocked when I received the invitation email. I didn’t know anything about it. I didn’t have any doubts. This is one Once in a lifetime-experience.”

On Monday she traveled from Geldrop to the political capital of our country. “At seven o’clock we had agreed with all the hairdressers to eat something, then we all went to the terrace. It was nice to have some distraction with everyone in the run -up to such an exciting day.” For Quinty it turned out to be the perfect recipe for a good night’s sleep. “I was very tired, so I slept wonderfully.”

More self -confidence
The talented hairdresser takes a lot of this special day for the future. “Sometimes I sometimes doubt my abilities,” she admits. “Then I look at my fellow hairdressers and I think: you are really very good. I compare myself too much.” But this special day showed that she was really cut for the profession: “Everyone who sat in my chair was positive. I received many compliments. It motivated me to believe more in myself. It was a day to remember.”
