Borussia Mönchengladbach separated from head coach Gerardo Seoane after only three Bundesliga match days, the successor has already been determined.

The Gladbachers officially announced this from Seoane in the late Monday afternoon after several media had previously reported. It is the earliest coaching of the club history.

“After an intensive review of our season start, we were convinced that we have to change the position of head coach,” said sports director Roland Virkus. “After ten Bundesliga games without a victory, faith has disappeared that the change with Gerardo can succeed.”

President Rainer Bonhof said: “Gerardo took over the team in a difficult situation, went on the path of the club, has pushed the team’s development process and stabilized it. However, the end of the season was not the way we imagined and the start of this season was also not. The step to take a new impulse is the right one.”

As the Gladbacher continues, “U23 coach Eugen Polanski will take over the coaching office until further”.

The Gladbacher game replacement training on Monday morning had still led Seoane. At 10:20 a.m., the 46-year-old Swiss entered the training ground with the professionals, who were not used against Werder Bremen on Sunday at the raken 0: 4 home clap on Sunday-his last official act.

At the same time, the conversations about Seoane’s future ran in the Gladbach executive floor – with a negative outcome for the coach.

Virkus had already avoided Seoane on Sunday after the game against Werder. He had to “sleep over it for a night,” said the Gladbach manager. “And then you have to look.”

Gladbach’s balance under Seoanes direction devastating

The latest record under Seoanes was indeed devastating: there are also five games without a goal in the Bundesliga to the ten games without a win.

After three season games 2025/2026, the Gladbacher only have one point and will have to compete with runner -up Bayer Leverkusen next Sunday.

Then the duels are waiting against Eintracht Frankfurt and SC Freiburg – an extremely ungrateful kick -off program for the new trainer.
