The evening of the 77th prime time Emmy Awards was all about premieres. The host was a comedian Nate Bargatze, who moderated a large award ceremony for the first time in the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. While there were well-known show elements such as musical numbers and cast reunions, the greatest highlights belonged to the debutant. New series, new faces and long overlooked stars.

Best moment

So Tramell Tillman won the Emmy for the best supporting role in a drama series during his first nomination. Netflix ‘Miniseries “Adolescence” cleared out several times, and Owen Cooper was awarded the youngest actor ever – in his first role. Apple’s the Studio and Max ‘hospital drama The Pitt also shone. Even stars such as Cristin Milioti, Katherine Lanasa, Jeff Hiller and Noah Wyle won their first trophies. Particularly moving: “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” finally received the talk show price-shortly before the shipment ends at CBS.

Best opening: professionals at work

Bargatze started with a sketch about television inventor Philo T. Farnsworth, together with Bowen Yang, James Austin Johnson and Mikey Day. Instead of Dreisspitz, he wore laboratory fellow and dreamed of streaming, alien documentaries and true crime shows. Clever, funny, close to the nominated – unfortunately this remained his strongest moment of the evening.

Katherine Lanasa is finally rewarded

The veteran won for “The Pitt” against the overwhelming competition from “The White Lotus” and “Severance”. In her acceptance speech, she praised John Wells: “I am so much better if you are there – especially because I am not afraid to be fired.”

Worst moments

Embarrassing donation idea

Bargatze promised $ 100,000 for the Boys & Girls Club – with the condition: every second over $ 45 cost $ 1,000. The constantly fluctuating sum on the screen quickly seemed tasteless and steered more than helping it.

Jennifer Coolidge without effect

Loved for her bizarre appearances, she disappointed with a slow, unpleasant monologue when awarding the price. Your only good gag-a painted colonoscopy scene joke-fizzled out in silence.

More highlights and flops

Gilmore Girls Reunion

Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel turned the stage briefly into Stars Hollow. Her funny, fast dialogues recalled why the series is a cult to this day.

Disappointing “Golden Girls” tributes

A short appearance by Reba Mcentire, Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman with the title song – that was all. Simply not enough for a series with such a large heritage.

Owen Cooper writes history

At the age of 15 he won as the youngest supporting actor in a mini series. His speech: honestly, brave and inspiring – a real highlight.

Stephen Colbert finally wins

Standing, he initially joked with Harrison Ford and later moved the talk show price-a worthy farewell to “The Late Show”.
