According to a report, Laura Dahlmeier’s body is to be recovered from Pakistan’s mountains. The ex-biathlete had wanted something else.

Laura Dahlmeier died in mountaineering in Pakistan at the end of July. Several weeks later, a recovery team is said to be on the way to her body. The Pakistani mountain guide Kaleem Shani reported on Sunday on social media. Shani runs a tour company in the Karakorum Mountains. The information has not yet been confirmed independently.

Dahlmeier, two-time biathlon Olympic champion and seven-time world champion, was traveling with her rope partner at Laila Peak in Pakistan when she was hit by Steinschlag at an altitude of 5,700 meters. A team of mountaineers tried a rescue mission shortly after the accident and failed due to the bad weather conditions on the mountain. A rescue by helicopter was also not possible. The 31-year-old did not survive the accident.

Dahlmeier had stated in her will that her body should remain on the mountain. “It was Laura Dahlmeier’s express and written will that in a case like no one, nobody should risk his life to recover her. Her wish was to leave her body back on the mountain in this case,” her management said after her death.
