Contact dermatitis is a symptom that can be obtained if you are allergic to acrylate. It is a contact allergy that cannot be tolerated or has no cure.

– Acrylate allergy has exploded in the industry, says nail technician Nea Falck Blue Lagoon.

Making nails at home has become a problem.

“Everybody makes nails at home, and don’t really know how, why and with what substances,” he says.

Falck says he sees a daily debate on touch rash.

– It is not a sin to make nails at home, but you have to be careful and actively look for information. I started making nails at home, and I became a professional, Falck laughs.

Can I do at home?

According to Falck, the risk of allergies is lower in a professional chair.

– They have experience as well as education. They have been able to make thousands of nails, and they also use professional products. The knowledge and skills are at a completely different level.

The story goes on after the picture.

Home factors may file their claws too thin, which brittle the natural pen. Applying acrylic products over too thin nails increases the risk of allergy.

– If the gel nails tear off, your own nail will be damaged. In home salons, you can easily damage your own nail, and then put the gel over the damaged nail, Falck says.

Falck also says that when you make nails for yourself, it is difficult to avoid touching your nails on the surrounding skin. Acrylic hits the skin before curing increases the risk of allergy.

– I also want to say that it is useless to panic. Europe has detailed regulations on products that can be used. Those products are not poisonous, but the crucial is how to use the products, Falck stumbles.

If you get symptoms of contact dermatitis, you should forget about putting your nails.

– Of course, you can go to allergy tests to find out which acrylate is allergic. But while it is sensitized to one, it is likely to be sensitized to other acrylates as well. Usually stopping nail and eyelashes is the only solution, Falck says.

He refers to eyelash extensions that are attached to his own lash with a glue containing acrylate.

– Acrylate allergy must also be reported in health care, as acrylate is used in some procedures. Allergy has a holistic effect on life, says Falck.

Finally, he gives a few tips for home factors.

– Do not mix products from different manufacturers. In addition, the product must be used correctly and the right amount. There are many factors that need to be taken into account. Some nail trainers have “do yourself nails” training that is quite advisable to go.

In mind

  • Do not touch the hardened gel varnish.
  • Only use the gel polish required. Too thick a layer of varnish leaks easily around the nail and does not harden properly in the oven.
  • Use protective gloves if possible. The best protection is neoprene gum gloves marked with EN 374-1 and CE.
  • Cough the gel varnish under enough effective oven for long enough. Gel polishes usually have instructions on how effective the nail oven you need and how long you need to harden.
  • If the gel polish spreads before curing the nail tapes or on the surrounding skin, wipe it off as carefully as possible.
  • Wash your hands as soon as the nail work is done.
  • Make sure the varnish bottles are in neat condition and there is no gel polish on the neck of the bottles, for example.
