In the app group ‘De Dijken’ is one parking space the conversation of the day. This is the parking space at Houtmarkt 1. The residents of the Houtmarkt, Scheepmakersdijk and some surrounding streets have discovered that they will soon no longer be allowed to put their own car in this place. The conversation in the BuurtApp was thrown after a message on the website Officielebekendmakingen.nl.

On this website, where the official announcements of the government were collected, it was reported that the parking space on the Houtmarkt is assigned to Greenwheels by the municipality of Haarlem. Dozens of similar reports were published within a week. 29 other parking spaces in Haarlem have also been assigned exclusively to Greenwheels in recent weeks.

Even less parking space

“It is a bit strange to have to learn that,” says Astrid, one of the residents around the Houtmarkt. “It feels a bit like it is being done secretly. As a neighborhood, we have not heard anything about it from the municipality.”

The residents are unpleasantly surprised by the sudden change and especially by the fact that there is even less parking space left for the people in the area.
