The 1. FC Köln remains unbeaten in the Bundesliga. But after the six-goal spectacle in Wolfsburg (3: 3), the worries about Rav van den Berg are great.

It was a wild trip that the 1. FC Cologne experienced at VfL Wolfsburg. An early lead, a thunderstorm interruption, a gap in the second half and then three goals in added time-including compensation for FC in the 104th minute. Never fell a goal later in a game of the Bundesliga history.

FC makes it possible this season. The last-minute goats have already made the turn in the third of four competitive games in the last seconds of a game. The joy of the Lukas Kwasniok team was correspondingly great – with a big drop of bitterness.

After 68 minutes, Rav van had to be replaced by the mountain. The Dutchman, who had switched to FC for eight million euros plus bonuses to FC in summer, had been cleared by Lovro Majer with both legs. A hard foul for which the Wolfsburg was considered with yellow and which triggered a pack formation on the field. Van the mountain had to be treated and then led from the field.

However, not on the legs where Majer had hit him. Van den Berg had fallen unhappily on his left shoulder at the foul. Team doctor Dr. Paul Klein still gestured on the edge of the field and explained to the player what injury he suspected on his shoulder. Afterwards, sports director Thomas Kessler confirmed that FC may have to do without the 21-year-old for a long time.

“Unfortunately, it doesn’t look so good. After the foul, he fell very unhappily on the shoulder. We have to have it checked in the clinic, but it looks like it will be missing for several weeks,” said Kessler. The 39-year-old did not want to reveal whether there was suspicion of shoulder-deck injury or broken collarbone. In both cases, van would be missing the mountain for a long time.

Just in July, youngster Youssoupha Niang suffered a shoulder injury and had been operated on. The attacker will not be returned to team training before October and were missing at least three months. Should this also apply to Van the mountain, he would now threaten the end of 2025. A bitter pill for FC, which had even jumped on the second place on Saturday.
