According to friend and fee, Arjen Lubach stands in the way of the late evening of RTL 4. Because of his satirical TV show, RTL Tonight starts very late. “He can also move to RTL 5.”
The late evening of RTL 4 is a disaster: the people who look at the entertainment on prime time, drop out en masse when Arjen Lubach starts reading his VPRO jokes and then RTL Tonight has to start. The ratings of the late talk show are dramatic and it seems that in particular Arjen is very in the way. What does RTL have to do with him?

Can Arjen not move to RTL 5? “It could be. Then you have Lubach there at 8.30 pm,” says TV authority Tina Nijkamp in her podcast Tina’s TV UPDATE. “Then you have an earlier start and that could be, because Lubach always records at 6 p.m.”
She continues: “For RTL 5, that would of course be a welcome addition, I think, and then they could just start their primetime programming at 9 p.m.. It could be a very smart idea.”
“Chance is zero”
Tina thinks it’s favorable for RTL. “I think RTL would also improve in terms of market share, because of course RTL Tonight just starts a little earlier. Yet the chance that this will happen is zero, because of course Lubach has really been recorded in his contract that he will be seen on RTL 4.”
Arjen does not want to be on the B podium, she concludes. “Because RTL 5 is – how you turn it – a smaller channel and of course you will never get those numbers that you get on RTL 4. That is just the case. It would mean a degradation for him and that is certainly recorded.”
