Abdi Nageeye
Abdi Nageeye had already announced that he will defend his title in New York. He has to compete against Eliud Kipchoge, among others. The Kenyan is the most successful marathon runner in history with two Olympic titles and eleven victories in the Abbott World Marathon Majors.
Nageeye won the New York marathon last year in 2.07.39. He released his Kenyan fellow flighter Evans Chebet in the last kilometer and crossed the finish line. Nageeye also won the Rotterdam Marathon earlier last year. This year he finished fourth in the London marathon, but there improved his own national record to 2.04.20.
He is also not active in the World Cup athletics.
