After the separation from Nuno Espírito Santo, Nottingham Forest found a new trainer. Ex-Tottenham coach Poseteclou succeeds the successor, as the Tricky Trees confirmed on Tuesday afternoon. The 60-year-old thus gets the chance to defend his title in the Europa League.
Postecoglou had led the Spurs to the first title in 17 years, but had to take his hat off just 16 days after the triumph due to a catastrophic season in the English Oberhaus. 38 points meant the worst yield of Tottenham in the Premier League and a disappointing 17th place. The European League victory nevertheless brought the ticket for the Champions League. Postecoglou, who, like the owner Evangelos Marinakis – came from Greece with whom Espírito Santo had overwhelmed – won an average of 1.53 points in 101 games over two years.
“We bring a trainer into the club who has been proven to have gained titles. His experience as a coach of teams at the highest level and his wish to build something special together with us at Forest make him a fantastic personality that will support us on our way and help to achieve all of our goals,” explained Marinakis. “After we got the promotion to the Premier League and then continuously developed season after season to qualify for European football, we now have to take the right step to keep up with the best and to fight.
