Thomas Tuchel in criticism
Did he have a favor?

Most recently, England was able to win a victory. The nation is not really satisfied with Thomas Tuchel’s work.
Already at his performance last year, Thomas Tuchel made no secret of his ambitious goals: The English national coach will try everything “to get a second star on the jersey”. He wanted to “make the dream come true”. What Tuchel said: he wants to become world champion with England – and has spokesed up with it.
Because the words he chose – long before the qualification for the tournament in the summer of 2026 in the USA, Canada and Mexico had started – do not currently agree with reality. Last Saturday England won 2-0 against Andorra football dwarf. Tuchel spoke of a “solid” performance. However, the English press did not convince the appearance at all and therefore scored itself on Tuchel and the team.
“It was quiet enough to hear a pin to fall,” wrote the British “Daily Mail”. “The Sun” wrote about a “useless game against a ski area”. There was no trace of the audience ranks in Villa Park in Birmingham in Birmingham.
With his offensive objective, Thomas Tuchel was not alone. National coach Julian Nagelsmann also committed himself early and proclaimed the World Cup title as the goal. Clear words from both, but also a clear drop of fall-like Nagelsmann after the last two qualifying games against Slovakia (0: 2) and Northern Ireland (3: 1), for which he inserted a lot of criticism.
In England, Tuchel was presented as a hope of hope in early 2025 – as one who had already won international titles in club football (Champions League with Chelsea 2021) and should finally fulfill the big English dream of the first title since the 1966 World Cup.
However, his start with the “Three Lions” was already difficult. It was clear that it would not be easy as the third foreign national coach. The English experts did not leave good hair at the start of office and I think: “I think we do ourselves if we accept that Thomas Tuchel is better,” said 85-time international Gary Neville, who referred to the English coach Eddie Howe at Newcastle United and Graham Potter at the time also did a good job at Chelsea.
