Julian Weber is currently in top form and travels to Tokyo with a lot of confidence. The reason for this is also a magical brand.
The 31-year-old recently presented himself in top form. In May he cried the magical 90-meter mark for the first time with 91.06 meters. At the final of the Diamond League in Zurich, he again achieved this feat twice at the end of August. In addition, Weber set the world year best with 91.51 meters.
For him, these expanses were the laurels for hard work in recent years and months. “I immediately called my family, we all cried. And that I was able to cross the 90 meters again in the competition with Neraj Chopra,” said Weber in conversation with “Sport 1”.
The Indian Neraj Chopra is one of Weber’s permanent rivals. The 27-year-old became Olympic champion in Tokyo and won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Paris last year. Weber was sixth at Olympics last year. He also has a small bill with Tokyo because he narrowly missed the podium fourth four years ago.
Through the services recently, he looks optimistically at the World Cup: “I now know exactly what I have to do and what steps are necessary to play at the top of international championships. This knowledge of my own performance gives me enormous security.”
Weber hopes that it will be enough for a medal – no matter in which color it shimmers: “Of course everyone wants to win, but I also know that silver or bronze is an outstanding performance. It is crucial that I call my competition and show what I can do.”
