Gasly (29) has been driving for Alpine since 2023. Before that he came out for the Red Bull sister team, called Toro Rosso and Alphatauri at the time. In between, he also rode for half a year by Max Verstappen near the flagship, but he had to grab his bags again in the summer break.
What do Pierre Gasly and Flavio Briatore say?
“As a Frenchman, and certainly as a driver for a French car brand, I am very proud,” says Gasly. “Since my arrival in 2023, I have always had the feeling that this team is the right place for the future. I still want to be here in the coming years and make our joint goal: winning races and world championships. We are all in this together and I am looking forward to continuing this special story.”
Team boss Flavio Briatore is happy that he keeps Gasly inboard. “We are well prepared for the new era of Formula 1, which starts in 2026, and now we have confirmed our leading driver who will lead us far into the future. Pierre has been a huge asset to the team in this challenging period. I am very impressed by his attitude, dedication and talent and we look forward to continuing this project for a long time.”
Difficult year for Alpine
From 2026, Alpine will no longer run with its’ own ‘Renault engine, but becomes Mercedes’ customer. This year the racing stable performs particularly moderately and occupies the last place in the World Cup stand among the constructors. All twenty points were brought in by Gasly. Jack Doohan was soon replaced by Franco Colapinto, but the Argentinian cannot break pots either.
