Salih Özcan could still leave Borussia Dortmund this summer. The defensive midfielder is only one of the substitute players in the black and yellow and was recently not reported for the Champions League. In order to be used regularly and to maintain his chance of participating in the World Cup next year with Turkey, the 27-year-old could move to the Süper Lig.
Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are said to be interested in Özcan, but there are no concrete reports about a change. According to the “picture”, the 23-fold national player is not averse to running in the Turkish upper house for the first time. So far, the native of Cologne was only active in Germany at the club level. The transfer window in Turkey is still open until September 12th.
Özcan’s contract with BVB is valid until 2026, so now there is only one chance of a transfer. He also receives a proud salary with 5 million euros. According to the newspaper, the Dortmund Özcan would let go of 5 million euros. However, they don’t want to sell the midfielder with all their might, since coach Niko Kovac Özcan actually likes player types. Nevertheless, he hardly gets a train, so far there are only four minutes this season, and there are a total of 86 games. Özcan came to BVB for 5 million euros from 1. FC Köln three years ago, and he spent the last season on a loan at VfL Wolfsburg. His market value has now fallen from a former maximum of 17 million to EUR 4 million since 2022.
