Now it’s fixed: around six weeks after leaving West Bromwich Albion, Valérien Ismaël has found a new coaching job. As various media had already reported unanimously, the 46-year-old signed with Besiktas Istanbul on Friday. According to the club, the contract of the former Bundesliga player is valid until 2023 with an option for another year.
Ismaël, who has worked for LASK and FC Barnsley since leaving VfL Wolfsburg in February 2017, this deal should bring in a salary of 750,000 euros per season, according to “A Spor”. A tricky mission awaits the Frenchman, who follows Önder Karaveli, at the “Adler”. After the championship in the pre-season, Besiktas threatens the weakest performance of this millennium. The lowest finish in 35 years was a sixth-place finish under coach John Toshack after the 1997-98 season. The Istanbul team is currently in eighth place.

In addition to Ismaël, Daniel Farke was considered an alternative option. The 45-year-old German had terminated his contract with FK Krasnodar on March 2nd.
