Two groups of Syrian youngsters were involved in the stabbing on Tongelresestraat in Eindhoven on Monday night. That says Mayor Dijsselbloem on Tuesday evening. The mayor examines whether it is necessary to take measures. Three Syrian youth, who stay from a reception location in Geldrop, were injured in the stabbing.

Mayor Dijsselbloem says that ‘two groups with Syrian youngsters have been involved’ in the stabbing. Whoever is responsible for what he leaves in the middle, according to the mayor, the police have ‘arrested three other people who did not come from Eindhoven but from the Randstad’.

The mayor now looks at ‘whether administrative measures are needed and possible, such as area bans’.

COA is worried
According to the police, the group with young people was attacked on Monday evening. It was also stabbed. Two Fatbikes of the young people were also stolen. Three young people (16, 17 and 17 years old) were injured in the attack. The victims all come from Syria and stay in a reception center of the COA (Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers).

The COA is concerned about the safety of residents of the reception location in Geldrop. They say that both the residents and the employees of the reception center are shocked for what happened.

The COA also advises the 54 boys and girls in the same shelter as the victims not to take to the streets in the evening. “It’s the subject of discussion,” says a spokesperson. “We can’t say anything about other measures because of safety.”
