The German ex-international Gündogan comes from Manchester City And has signed a two -year contract at Galatasaray, the transfer window in Turkey only concludes on September 12th. “I am very happy. Gündogan was to be awarded the Mevlüde Genec Medal of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on Tuesday (02.09.2025) in Düsseldorf. However, the State Chancellery canceled the appointment at short notice and wrote: “Due to a possible timely change of association and the associated medical check, Ilkay Gündogan is not possible at very short notice to travel to Düsseldorf personally.”
Reunion with Sané
Gündogan had returned from FC Barcelona to Man City in 2024, but he was no longer able to build on his seven successful years in the team of Pep Guardiola. So the 34-year-old was considered a candidate for sales this summer.
In Istanbul he also meets his former national team colleague Leroy Sané. The striker had changed from FC Bayern Munich to the Bosphorus in the summer.
Transfer offensive – Cakir is also coming
