Do you dream of a job in healthcare, but do you doubt whether you are suitable for it? Healthcare organization Welthuis Says: yes! Whether you are an experienced nurse or want you to train internally as a caregiver: Welthuis is looking for real people who want to do something beautiful for their fellow human beings – not the stereotype care worker

After working in home care for a long time, Cora Visser decided that she was ready for something new. “In home care you work irregular short services, on your own.” Now that they are Well -house works completely different. “I work in the same place all day and am surrounded by colleagues. She and the residents make working very nice.”

Welcome to Welthuis

Cora has been working as a carer at Welthuis for six years. “My residential care location has four different living rooms. We have eight residents per living room, all with dementia. It feels like a large family.”

Together with her colleagues, Cora does everything that belongs to the daily care of the residents. “We help them get dressed in the morning and bring them to bed in the evening. Together with the welfare assistants, we also provide extra attention and cosiness, for example by playing a game together with residents or taking a walk through the village. We cook for the residents and eat with them.”

A new step in healthcare

After years in home care, Cora was ready for a new step. “I just called WELTHUIS asking if I could walk for a day. During that walking day I did not know what I was experiencing. All colleagues helped each other. Since I work at Welthuis, I have noticed how much I missed working with colleagues in home care.”

After that first day of walking, Cora started quickly. “I don’t regret that switch for a moment. The work is tough, but it helps to be surrounded by people who go through the same thing. I often have a stomach ache with my colleagues. In this way I want to continue working until my retirement.”

Welthuis is the ideal employer for Cora. “I definitely recommend this. Everything is well arranged, there is always someone to answer my questions and I feel appreciated as an employee.”

A large family

WELTHUIS does not believe in stereotype care workers. Cora also often thinks outside the boxes in her work, to deliver the best possible care. “My way of worry is very personal and warm. I take care of the residents like I would take care of my own father or mother. That familiar feeling is nice for the residents.”

Anyone who wants to help with odd jobs or decide on the food. “We recently renovated the living room with the residents. Everyone enjoyed thinking about the new interior. When we were ready, it turned out to be dinner time! Then we asked everyone what they like at the snack bar and we got a fries for everyone. That was a super fun evening.”

“Welthuis is for everyone,” says Cora. “We have holiday workers from the age of fifteen and colleagues who are about to retire. There are side jobs for students and for those who only want to work at the weekend. Your personal situation is central and you will think about working hours that fit.”

“Even if you do not have a care diploma, but you can work a care heart as a welfare assistant or as an ADL assistant. You can even let yourself be trained internally as a care worker. As a volunteer you can also come and do something fun with the residents.”

In short: for those who want to work in healthcare, a lot is possible at Welthuis. “If you go home at the end of your working day, you know that you have meant something for your fellow man. That gives so much satisfaction.”
