Four game days have already been completed in the 2nd Bundesliga and Hertha BSC is still waiting for the first win of the season. Despite this capital false start and table place 17, the capital club stuck undeterred at the great target.
At his official performance on Monday, the new managing director Peter Görlich underlined the ambitions of the capital club: “The Bundesliga promotion is actually a goal of me, no question at all.” The return to the upper house can also be a “accelerator as part of the consolidation course”, according to the 58-year-old.
President Fabian Drescher was also combative and tried to spray optimism despite the weak start of the season. “Our path is also paved with setbacks and there will always be setbacks,” said the 42-year-old.
And further: “But honestly, I like a somewhat more bumpy start to the season so as not to say a shitty season start, if in doubt, rather than if we would stumble on the home stretch.”
After four match days, Hertha BSC is still waiting for the first victory. Most recently, it set a bitter 0-2 home defeat at home against SV Elversberg. Drescher admitted: “Of course we hoped for more than the previous points.” Nevertheless, one does not want to over -dramatize the situation: “You have to leave the church in the village after four match days.”
Görlich emphasizes good character of the Hertha team
Those responsible continue to rely on unity within the club. Drescher emphasized: “I am not afraid that we are drawing the right conclusions with everyone, coach, the sporting management and the management, so as not to lose sight of our season goals.” After all, they are “all within reach.” You have to analyze exactly internally, but panic is out of place: “We are far from panicking here.”
Görlich, in turn, emphasized the character of the team. He has “a deep faith” in the players who are aware of the situation: “The players know the need to appear differently. And I am also convinced that these other appearances will come.”
The 58-year-old will form the management at Hertha BSC together with Ralf Hüchen.
