What first seemed like a normal phone call from the bank turned out to be a classic chat trick from a scammer. A man from Breda will be scammed in April this year by a man who presents himself as an employee of the help desk of a bank. He says that something is wrong with the account of the Bredanaar and an urgent action must be taken. “He kept the victim on the line for two hours,” the police say in the Bureau Brabant program. Images of the perpetrator have now been released.

The victim’s phone rings around six in the afternoon. He gets an employee from the bank on the line, it seems that it seems, but in reality he is about to fall victim to a cunning trick. The victim is told that his account has been hacked and that action must be taken urgently. He does not trust it and decides to call the bank himself.

But even before he gets the chance to call the bank, his phone rings again and gets the same person on the line. “This leads to confusion, because for the victim it seems as if he really has the bank on the line,” the police say.

The fraudster tells the tune again: his limit must be raised, a suspect has been arrested and the pass must be blocked. Half an hour later the scammer is at the door at the victim. He presents himself as the bank’s employee and reassures the victim by promising that a new pass will arrive tomorrow. There will also be a local police officer for the declaration tomorrow.

Nothing comes of these promises. On that same evening around half past eight, the fraudster appears with a gray vest and black hoodie at an ATM. He walks to the machine, pint and leaves with the loot.
