The German ice hockey women won the four-nation tournament in Albertville in French, making a successful start to the Olympic season.

The team of national coach Jeff Macleod defeated hosts France on Saturday with 6: 3 (3: 0, 2: 3, 1: 0) and thus seamlessly linked the success against Japan (2: 1 after penalty shooting) and Hungary (5: 1).

Lilli Welcke (2), Nicola Hadraschek-Eisenschmid, Celina Haider, Katarina Jobst-Smith and Anne Bartsch scored the goals for the World Cup quarter-finalists against France.

“It was a good end to our tournament. The schedule was closely with three games over three days. We had some sick and injured, but the team worked hard,” said Macleod.
