Last Monday it was decided that the roads separate immediately. From now on that means that of De Linde has its own group, while Hidde Fennema, Tobias Westerneng, Gerard Ekelmans and Ellis Zeeuw van der Laan form the other VVD group. The same fraction name has been possible in the same council (see box).
It is striking that the two camps indicate that they have no substantive problems with each other. The reason for the break is mainly in the collaboration. “It went in practice, sometimes a bit rough”, can be read in the statement. “To give each the space to shape the council work in their own way, it was decided to no longer go together in one fraction.”
Unbridgeable difference
Van de Linde tells NH that there was primarily a difference in style and the approach to the council work was different. In practice, that difference no longer turned out to be bridging. She also emphasizes that she is not going to sail any other course.
“My commitment to the Hilversum VVD voters, for our program and coalition agreement and for good governance in Hilversum remains unchanged. I remain faithful to the agreements with our voters and our members,” she clearly states.
