RB Leipzig threatens the loss of another service provider. However, this is sweetened by a considerable transfer fee for the Saxons.
Shortly before the first home game of the new season, RB Leipzig will probably lose another top star: after striker Benjamin Šeško (for up to 85 million euros to Manchester United), midfielder Xavi Simons is now also about a move to the Premier League. According to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 22-year-old is drawn to Tottenham Hotspur.
The dpa reports that details on the transfer fee should still be clarified, but in principle both clubs should already agree. The “Spurs” are apparently willing to pay around 60 million euros for the Dutch international.
A execution of the change is expected before the game against 1. FC Heidenheim on Saturday (from 3:30 p.m. in the live ticker at T-Online). For coach Werner, this means: to plan. When asked about the impending departure, he said that they had a “clear idea”. At the same time, he emphasized that “the first stone had to fall first”.
Werner also pointed out that RB for the midfield “already added players with a perspective and made one or two anticipation”. Nevertheless, one continues to look for reinforcements.
Harvey Elliott from FC Liverpool is currently considered the hottest candidate for the Simons successor. The 22-year-old was trained under the direction of Jürgen Klopp, who now acts as a global RB soccer chief. In Leipzig, Elliott could now mature to the next big star.
