The previously resigned Deputy Prime Minister Fleur Agema (PVV) no longer returns to the Lower House. “I would have liked to have done it for years, but unfortunately the circumstances are not there,” she writes in one on Thursday evening explanation on x. The party prominent does not make clear what circumstances are involved.
Agema was in the Cabinet Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Health, until Wilders withdrew his ministers in June. Earlier she publicly expressed her doubts about her future in national politics. In 2012, Agema said that she is suffering from the severe nervous disease multiple sclerosis (MS).
Earlier on Thursday evening, PVV leader Geert Wilders made on X The first four names on the PVV candidate list for the upcoming parliamentary elections known. Since the foundation of the party in 2006, Agema has always been high on the electoral list.
Wilders opts for newcomers in The Hague in his top four. Number two is MEP Sebastiaan Stöteler, who was previously a member of the Provincial States of Overijssel. He was chosen for the European Parliament in 2024, but leaves Brussels again for national politics – combining both functions is not permitted.
The numbers three and four are unknown names. In third place is Shanna Schilder, who is currently working at the Curaçao Ministry of Directors, planning and services. This is followed by Annelotte Lammers, who works at the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND). Both have no political experience as far as we know.
The choice for them is striking, since the PVV list is usually mainly supplied by confidants of Wilders. Wilders announces the names of the other candidates in the coming days.
Markuszower
In the previous parliamentary elections, after Wilders and Agema Rachel van Mertelen, three, at the time, a big surprise because of her lack of political experience – she was a fairground entrepreneur and eliminated a poffertjeskraam with her husband. Gidi Markuszower, a confidant of Wilders, was in fourth place.
Wilders bore Markuszower last year as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Asylum and Migration. But after the AIVD found incriminating information about Markuszower, the PVV leader had to search for another candidate. Prime Minister Ronald Plasterk had already withdrawn before a matter of a patent application.
The PVV, where everything revolves around Wilders, usually has difficulty finding experienced candidates. Unlike other parties, she has no members and no party organization within which political talents are recruited and prepared for The Hague. Many PVV people combine functions and, for example, are also a council member in addition to being a senator.
