In the past 30 years, Bavaria has always mastered the opening hurdle in the trophy. So also against Wiesbaden – but only late.

FC Bayern has painstakingly reached the second round of the DFB Cup. The German record champion won 3: 2 (1-0) against Wehen Wiesbaden. The team of Vincent Kompany was initially brought to a penalty, but then took the lead through a foul in the contractions in the labor forecast thanks to Harry Kane (16th minute).

At the break, the Munich leadership remained. After Michael Olise scored (51.) Wiesbaden for the double strike: Fatih Kaya equalized for the third division club within six minutes (64th and 70th). Then Kane got the chance from the point again, but failed. In injury time he decided the duel and scored the decisive 3: 2 (90. +4).

Despite the lackluster appearance, the Munich residents have remained unbeaten in the opening game of the competition since the first round of TSV Vestenbergsgreuth.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany threw the rotary machine after the convincing 6-0 victory against RB Leipzig to start the Bundesliga and changed his starting eleven to six positions. In addition to the blocked goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who was represented by Jonas Urbig, Dayot Upamecano, Josip Stanišić, Konrad Laimer, Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry also remained outside at the beginning.

Despite the changes, it only took ten seconds to the first Bayern Grosschank. Kane played Luis Díaz free, but the attacker, who had come from FC Liverpool for 75 million euros, failed due to the shiny reacting SVWW goalkeeper Florian Stritzel.

After the first moment of terror, the outsider quickly sorted and initially allowed no further dangerous actions by the record champion. The Munich controlled the action, but found hardly any gaps in the compact defense of the hosts.

Only a penalty after a foul by Ryan Johansson to Sacha Boey – the Wiesbadener tore his opponent around the guest at a high flank in the penalty area – helped the guests to lead. Kane turned ice cold. As a result, the favorite spoiled its workload easily without spending itself.

However, the second goal was long in coming. Only two contractions cleared after a shot from Díaz shortly before the goal line, then Stritel saved against Raphaël Guerreiro. The prospect of opportunities almost took his day when Nikolas Agrafiotis came to the shot after a counterattack, but the Bayern goal missed significantly. In return, Kane had the 2-0 on his foot, but again Stritzel remained the winner.
