Tina Nijkamp, living in a chic neighborhood in Amsterdam, never dares to walk on the street alone in the evening. She finds it too risky. “If I am invited to a talk show like VI, I always ask a taxi.”
The violent death of 17-year-old Lisa, who was on the bike on the way from Leidenplein in Amsterdam to Abcoude, has released a lot in our country. Many girls and women feel unsafe on the street, including TV authority Tina Nijkamp. “I am very scared, still. I still don’t dare to go alone at night,” she says.
Tina’s fear
Tina has had that all her life, she says in the podcast The Media Week. “Actually since I was sixteen. I have always taken taxis in my student days, because I have experienced very annoying things. I once removed from the bike as a girl – nothing else happened at the time – and I was also chased in my student days.”
“I had taken the night bus. At that time I also dared very badly, but well, I had no money at the time and I went with the night bus. And then I am also … A man already had the foot in the door. I don’t want this at all one How can I make this about me Not at all, I don’t want that at all, but it’s about women in general. “
By taxi to VI
There is a kind of fear of men at Tina. “I am very scared, so I have experienced several times that men want to put you on something. So yes, I take my measures for that. For example, if I am invited to a talk show, I always ask a taxi. I don’t dare to walk on the street in the dark. Really not.”
Today Inside always arranges a taxi for Tina and that gives her peace. “I also did a self -defense course. In any case, I always look around during the day. What I want to say is that it is not only in a big city, but also in the countryside.”
Hormone
Some men cannot control themselves, says Tina. “Those hormones are playing and then they will do this kind of crazy things. And that happens at night, but so it happened to me as a girl during the day. And that was not in Amsterdam. In the countryside, when I cycled home from school. I want to say: nothing else happened then.”
She concludes: “I have become very suspicious, yes, but have a lot of women. Women are always very scared and always look around in the dark. All my girlfriends too, they do that too. Every woman. And I think that’s so good that that is now becoming clear.”
