Hugo Moyano is renewed. It is that Paul, his eldest son, stuck a lot to Kirchnerism and is no longer useful to the cause. It is also indomitable, not for nothing they say “the savage”: an attribute that served once but that does not pay today. Now, the union leader bets on Hugo Antonio, the most diplomatic line of the lineage, which will be a candidate for national deputy for Buenos Aires.
The architect that his name appears in the ninth place (a candidate “input”, according to the polls) was Hugo Padre, but who gave him the endorsement was Governor Axel Kicillof. If everything goes well for Patria Force, the Moyano clan will have a bank at a crucial moment for trade unionism: the discussion for labor reform.
New path
At 41, Huguito will have an important challenge: to leave the low profile he likes to grow to break into the campaign, first, and in his deputy bank, later. The labor lawyer, who began as an advisor in truckers and, leveraged by his dad, became the agent of the CGT, has a general consensus of the guilds to represent them. “It is everyone’s candidate,” says the other trade unionists.
“A unit of unity was achieved to face a government that only punishes our people,” wrote the candidate in the Network X. And he completed: “I reaffirm my commitment to workers, trade union organizations, the General Confederation of Labor, Peronism, and the Argentine people as a whole.”
If the Bonaerenses vote accompanies him, Huguito will follow the footsteps of his brother Facundo, the first of the Moyano clan to reach Congress: he was deputy between 2011 and 2021, when he resigned strongly criticizing Alberto Fernández and at the head of all (see box). The halls of the lower house will not be oblivious to Hugo Antonio. It is that during Facundo’s mandates, he accompanied him as an advisor to the Labor Commission, although he had been holding as a lawyer as a lawyer.
Huguito obtained the title in 2007 and a few days he was already working on his father’s union structure. He accompanied his half -brother Pablo in the union secretariat, although the ways of both were different. He made his first legal weapons in the study of the former judge and lawyer of the family, Daniel Llermanos. Now, in addition to its union activity, he is also a professor of law at the University of Buenos Aires. Hugo Padre, who did not finish high school, highlights his preparation. He is the sophisticated son of the clan.
Hugo Antonio met the halls of deputies thanks to his brother Facundo. He was barely a few years as a lawyer, but he was appointed advisor to the Labor Commission. Facundo was the first of the clan to take a bank in the National Congress and did so for a decade. In 2011, with just 26 years, he was elected and repeated charge three times. Although he resigned in 2021, when he still had two years of management ahead, strongly criticizing Alberto Fernández management.
In recent times, everything that surrounds Facundo is more linked to his sentimental relations than his work as a trade unionist. At the close of this edition, it had divorced the Eva Bargiela model, which described its relationship as “a difficult stage that finally ends.”
On the other side was Pablo. Things between father and son have not come well for several years. Hugo’s friendship with Alberto Fernández and Paul’s approach to Kirchnerism kept them separate during Peronist management. In fact, “the savage” enjoyed criticizing the then president to differentiate himself from his dad.
Guild internal
The thing worsened in November 2024, when Pablo, tired of insisting with a national strike against Milei that did not arrive, left the triumvirate of the CGT. “Here always the same caripelas,” he crossed before pasteing the door. Hugo had to designate Octavio Argüello, a historic Ladero, to occupy the space and was moving from the central the leaders who responded to their son.
From there, the relationships were very injured. And the crosses reached the bases. A month ago, in the middle of a march by the Garrahan hospital, features that represent Hugo and Pablo faced each other in the street. There were blows, threats and more. The tension between father and son is still increasing.
Paul is away from the family. He does not step on the headquarters of the Trucker Union, which in the papers remains the deputy secretary, and occupies his time almost exclusively in the presidency of the Social and Sports Athletic Club Truckers, which he founded the family in 2009 and today is in First C of Argentine football.
Its management is not bad: “The truck” leads Group B of the category when a good part of the tournament has already passed and reaped 15 parties undefeated in the last section. Enough to maintain the attention of the unionist in sports, instead of trying to return to his union activity.
Milei’s irruption required other ways. Hugo, a thousand battles in politics, understood. If the chosen path was the permanent clash, the one looking for Paul, they were going to be delegitimated, so the chief of the clan changed his strategy. In adverse times, it winks to the government with a closure of peers tailored to what “Toto” Caputo demands, but then participates in the marches in protest against the president. One of lime and one of sand.
Now it is time to grow the image of Huguito, which has more tools and is more docile than his older brother. It is also fierying Jerome, the youngest, whom he will try to put as secretary of the CGT Youth in the next elections, on November 6. The times changed. And the Moyano clan is in full restructuring.
