Yet there are more answers that indicate how important dogs can be for people. The dog is seen as a fully -fledged family member by 92 percent of the owners.
On the couch and in bed
In the house, dogs have often conquered a prominent place: with more than three -quarters of the respondents they are allowed on the couch, and at 41 percent also in bed.

Almost all of the owners regularly talk to their dogs all day long as if it were a human. For a quarter of the participants, the dog is even the one with whom they talk the most on a average day.

Groenendijk is also worried. “More than a third of the dog owners do not arrange anything for their dog in case something happens to them, for example in the event of illness or death. It also appears that almost three in ten dogs rarely or never walk while walking. In addition, 29 percent of the dogs have been involved in a bite incident with another dog or even with a person.
