After five years as sports director of the MLS team St. Louis City SC, Lutz Pfannenstiel has to look for a new job. The club informed about the exemption of the 52-year-old on Monday.

For the time being, Diego Gigliana, Manager and Club President, as well as the technical director John Hackworth, will take on the tasks of Pfannenstiel.

“These decisions are never easy, and with the inheritance that Lutz built here during his time, he will always be part of the expanded city family,” said Gigliani: “Lutz has shown real passion and commitment to this project right from the start, and the foundation he created was crucial for the historical first season of the club.”

Pfannenstiel had taken over the position of the newly founded association in the summer of 2020, currently five German professionals are in the squad.

St. Louis had recently lost 2: 3 against the Vancouver Whitecaps-because former Bayern professional Thomas Müller converted a penalty against the former Dortmund Roman Bürki in added time.

St. Louis is the penultimate of the Western Conference.
