Radprofi Axel Zingle experienced the craziest day of his career at Vuelta. First the Frenchman banged his shoulder twice, then his bike had also disappeared.

However, the 26-year-old came to the finish, the last time with more than 24 minutes behind his teammate and stage winner Jonas Vingegaard.

What happened?

Zingle fell on the second section in Italy from Alba to Limone Piemonte and had to let the racing doctors go back – but could continue. When he reached into his jersey afterwards to get something out, Zingle stood out the joint a second time.

“There was a guy who didn’t speak very well.the professional from Team Visma – Lease A Bike later told “Eurosport”, “When I came out, my bike was gone.” At first it was said that the bike was stolen by a fan. This denied his racing team on Monday afternoon. The bike accidentally landed in a broom car, but was later returned.

Zingle wants to tackle the third stage from San Maurizio to Ceres (134.6 km) despite all the adversity on Monday.
