The driver of a rental car with a German license plate drove a lamppost out of the ground on the Ringbaan Noord in Tilburg on Sunday evening. The three young passengers of the car were slightly injured. Two men were taken to the hospital. The police are investigating whether the driver was under the influence and where the rental car comes from.
According to a police spokesperson, another car drove at the intersection just before the crash. The driver of this car is said to have been on the wrong lane and made a movement the other way.
The driver of the German rental car is said to have been shocked by this movement and tried to make ends meet. That went wrong. The driver completely drove out a lamppost. After the crash the car caught fire, but the fire was extinguished by bystanders.
Wounded
There were three young men in the expensive German rental car. The police cannot say anything about the precise age of the passengers. Two of them, including the driver, were brought to the hospital slightly injured. A blood test is taken in the hospital for the driver to investigate whether he was under the influence.
