With 144 starters and 120 km spread over 15 laps, things went hard immediately, with an average speed of more than 46 km/h. Various early failures, however, soon stranded, and the peloton remained together for a long time until halfway.

Four riders then tried to drive away: Rune Boden, Egemnaar Lukas Coryn, the British Samuel Greenwell and Zakary Lognard. Eventually they were walked in again in the ninth round by the peloton.

The decisive moment came when Wannes Van Goidsenhoven and Lukas Coryn again attacked. Emil Siegers and Leo Schyns joined them, creating a leading group of four.

In De Spurt, Van Goidsenhoven was the fastest, for Siegers and Schyns, while Coryn fell just next to the stage. Lukas Coryn says: “Best man being in race and falling next to the stage … that hurts a bit. It is the fate of not being a sprinter,” said the Egemnaar of The Lead Out Cycling Academy.
