The Bundesliga start was for Marco Friedl. Losted with Bremen, he is even asked after the final whistle after the supposed victory.

Marco Friedl will not forget the day so quickly. First he loses the Bundesliga opening game against Eintracht Frankfurt 1: 4 with Werder Bremen, then he is accidentally confused in the current TV interview by Sky presenter Katharina Kleinfeldt. Even though the two of them had got together for an interview on the Werder bus before kick-off.

Friedl then explained: “I have never experienced that. I had a talk with the woman 90 minutes before the game, because this was urgently needed or is extremely important that you now have the media before the game and in the cabin.” It was “strange and also a bit ridiculous” that she didn’t recognize him after the game, the 27-year-old said.

What happened? Kleinfeldt was in action as a field reporter and met Friedl after the final whistle in Deutsche Bank Park. The Bremen captain had previously exchanged his jersey with ex-Mit player Michael Zetterer, wore the Frankfurt goalkeeper jersey in Orange. Kleinfeldt spoke to him about the supposed victory.

“Of course we want to talk about harmony a bit,” the 32-year-old started before she added: “We go into the game first. 4: 1 ultimately won today. Is that the opening win you expected?” Friedl waited for a moment. Then the defender lowered his gaze, grinned briefly and replied: “I am a Werder-Bremen player, if that is not clear.”

Kleinfeldt reacted immediately: “Pardon. I’m really straight,” she started, after first looking briefly, but then noticed her faux pas. “Marco, sorry.” Both gave their hand. “This is my fault. Sorry,” said Kleinfeldt. The interview worked in the second attempt.

Kleinfeldt also reacted to the Fauxpas on Sunday: “The situation is very uncomfortable and annoyed me,” said the 32-year-old of the German Press Agency. “I hope that Marco can smile about it with a few days.” Kleinfeldt was “confused” at the moment of the Eintracht jersey, “so that this unfortunate confusion was undermined”.
