Duplantis believes in a breakthrough in the World Cup.
Armand Duplantis believes that Wilma Murto can compete for medals in the Tokyo World Championships, even though it may have to jump at a shorter pace than normal.
Murto is currently recovering from knee surgery and has returned to the race fields at a moderate 10 step pace.
According to Duplantis, for example, 14 steps could be enough for a medal.
– Of course. Wilma has the skills to do so. He has the style that even though he runs 14 steps, he can do it, “Mondo” comments.
– Women’s pole vault is now quite open. There are no three clear medalists who would be ahead of the others. Wilma still has a month to get tired. He has shown that he can get in a good position.
Duplantinen has no experience in similar situations where the burglary is now.
– But that doesn’t mean anything. This is now in Wilma’s own hands, he recalls.
The Swede says he encourages the burglary.
– We have a kind of Scandinavian connection. It’s great to see him back jumping.
