Hjallis Harkimo’s life has had enough sadness. Nevertheless, he has decided to focus on positive things.
The chairman of the shop now, Harry “Hjallis” Harkimo, 71, could not guess what year he would be coming.
Harkimo’s immediate circle has experienced great sadness due to the deaths of family members. 26 February Hjallis brother, Amanda Harkimo’s father Roy Harkimo died of liver cancer. Only less than five months later, on July 18th Hjallis’ nephew Oliver Harkimo died of a sudden illness.
In the same month, Joel Harkimo, the oldest child in Hjallis, announced his divorce with Janni Huss.
– First, the mother, then brother and then the nephew. This has always been sadness. Now you just have to go on and think positively and think about what you could do at work, in a relationship or with boys, Harkimo sums up.

For the loved ones
Despite all the sadness, Harkimo has decided to think positively.
– Of course, this spring and summer have been a hard burden in life, but it has now been lived. I can’t lie down and mourn these things anymore, Harkimo says.
– It’s easy for me and I can turn things into positive and think about everything else. Those sorrows have to be left behind at some point and it is now.

In the midst of his own feelings, Harkimo wants to take care of his loved ones.
– We constantly keep in touch with Amanda and her brother because they live in our neighbor. Of course, I also want to support them as much as possible, Harkimo says, refers to Roy Harkimo’s daughter Amanda Harkimo and the siblings of this brother, Oliver.
Harkimo does not want to intervene in his son’s divorce.
– If you just have to find out, Harkimo says briefly.
– He does not receive a relationship advice from me. We have had a system that we don’t talk about these things, but of course I support and help in any other way, he continues.

In the spring and summer sorrows, Harkimo has survived his unmarried partner, the entrepreneur Jasmine Pajarin through.
– Thanks to a relationship, I always have someone to discuss with things when it is difficult. Also, if I have new ideas, I can always talk to Jasmine. I can talk about many things with me because he has also been involved in politics, says Harkimo.
– Both of them are eager to comment and it is good that there is enough discussion. Sometimes I also have such stupid ideas that they then brake, Harkimo laughs.

This summer, Harkimo and Pajari had a good summer vacation together for the first time.
– Before this, there were presidential elections, then municipal and regional elections and EU elections. I also worked quite a lot last summer. This summer we got a well spent in July, but then only all these other problems came. It didn’t always feel like a holiday in the midst of sadness, though of course it sometimes felt, Harkimo recalls the July events.
Pajari and Harkimo told about their dating relationship in December 2023.
According to Harkimo, coexistence goes well.
– You can see the same face every morning, and that’s what we are trying to do. We live in normal life together, Harkimo inches.
– We are pretty close together and I don’t know what problems we have now. There are always some disputes sometimes, but not much, Harkimo continues.
Pajar’s expertise has also been helpful for Harkimo to make political content on social media. Harkimo has nearly 50 thousand followers on Instagram, with nearly 60 thousand on Tiktok and Facebook. At its best, publications have reached up to almost a million pairs of eyes.
– The videos have worked great. Yes, that social media and doing it is a very important thing, and Jasmine helps me a lot. Yes, I’m some kind of somebody, Harkimo laughs.
In his social publications, Harkimo highlights his views on how to get the Finnish economy in shape.
– Finnish politicians do not understand much about the economy. This same thing has been going on for 20 years and there is no change. It’s just a fact.
Harkimo is happy to look at the career paths of his sons. Harkimo’s youngest son Dan Harkimo is currently playing hockey in Ilves. Middle boy, Leo Harkimo Soon to change to South Korea soon. The oldest child, Joel Harkimo, is currently preparing for Global Solo Challenge.

Health in a stitch
One thing Harkimo wants to stick to is exercise. According to 71-year-old Harkimo, his health is good.
– I have undergone all the fitness tests, blood tests and other health checks. I’m in good shape, he says.
– A couple of weeks ago we made a pretty heavy ten kilometer loop in Sipoo, and I had no problem with it. So yes I’m in pretty good shape.
Harkimo, who has encountered difficult things in his life, has noticed that good lifestyles play a big role in their own coping.
– In life and positivity, it is definitely helpful if you are in good shape, you can go to the gym and take care of yourself. Otherwise, it will collapse, shrink and expire. Exercise and eating healthy are very important for the quality of life.
– When there are a lot of other problems around, I have to be in good shape, memory must play and I have to be able to work. If you can’t do physically, you will not be able to mentally. Yes, I am happy with my condition and health.
Serious illnesses in the circle have not made Harkimo fear for his own health.
– I have never been afraid of my own health because I always do those health examinations and work out regularly. It is good to be with Jasmine because he pulls me regularly to the gym. There you have to work out as hard as she’s, because otherwise I would be fucked up, Harkimo concludes.
