Ski jumping star ends career at the age of 23

Four years ago, Sara Marita Kramer became the world champion with the team. In addition, the ski jumping star chose the overall World Cup winner in the 2021/22 season. Now the 23-year-old surprisingly ends her career. The Austrian announced this in an emotional statement on her Instagram account.
Kramer explained with an honest insight into her soul life on Wednesday evening: “I fought. I fought to feel connected to this life that I have been living for so many years.
Then she explained: “The most difficult thing is: I always had this big dream of winning an Olympic medal. That drove me every day.” However, the ski jumper infected with the Coronavirus and could therefore not take part in the games in Beijing. Even though she was the favorite on gold.
Kramer said: “And frankly, when I failed in 2022, it hit me harder when I expected.” Afterwards she would have said that she had to continue to complete her story. And also because others would expect them to fight medals at the 2026 Winter Olympics 2026. But it won’t come so far.
“The joy was gone, and without joy even the most beautiful story loses its shine. Suddenly everything felt empty,” said Kramer, who admits: “I was always proud to be someone who never gives up. That makes this decision so damn difficult. Because that’s not the end that I imagined.”
But the young athlete emphasizes: “I am proud that I am finally brave enough to accept it to listen to my body and my heart. Finally brave enough to let go.” Her trip was “crazy” and thanks for the support.
