High jumper Christina Honsel confirmed her impressive form and ensured a surprise at the Diamond League meeting in Lausanne.

The 28-year-old skipped 1.91 meters in Switzerland in pouring rain and won with Nicola Olyslagers from Australia and Polish Maria Zodzik. In the end, all three athletes were altitude with the same number of failed attempts.

For Honsel it is the first triumph in the Diamond League ever. With the success, she also qualified for the final of the most important athletics series in the world in a week in Zurich.

Honsel gives hope for the World Athletics World Cup

Almost a week and a half ago, Honsel caused a sensation when she first skipped the magical brand of 2.00 meters at a smaller event in Heilbronn for the first time in her career. The German champion also set an exclamation mark in front of the World Cup in Tokyo, which takes place from September 13th to September 21st.

It was not so good in Switzerland in extremely difficult conditions for Imke Onnen, which ended up in the divided sixth place with 1.86 meters. Paris Olympic champion Jaroslawa Mahutschich from Ukraine remained without any valid attempt. She gave up after two jumps.

German season around Lückenkemper collects self -confidence

The German 4×100-meter relay of women provided another success in Lausanne-especially thanks to a strong performance by Gina Lückenkemper.

The quartet around Sina Mayer, Rebekka Haase, Sophia Junk and final runner Lückenkemper won in 42.53 seconds before the Netherlands (42.60 seconds) and Switzerland (42.81 seconds) – albeit in the absence of several strong nations.

Lea Meyer, however, experienced an evening to forget about 3000 meters. The 27-year-old did not finish. Meanwhile, the pole vault of women had to be canceled due to the weather in the middle of the competition.
