Tom Tailor and Paul Pörtner, General Manager Direct to Consumer, go separate paths.

Pörtner left the Hamburg clothing manufacturer at the end of August “by mutual agreement”, Tom Tailor said on Wednesday at the LinkedIn career network. He was active in this role for around three years.

Tom Tailor CEO Gernot Lenz thanked Pörtner’s clarity, openness and “valuable contribution to the development of Tom Tailor in difficult times.” Together with his team, Pörtner has successfully strengthened the direct-to-consumer segment in a period characterized by volatile markets and economic pressure and strengthened sales growth and profitability.

The turnover of the brand Fosun, which has been part of the Chinese mixed group since 2020, fell to 588 million euros in the past 2024 financial year by 3.9 percent compared to the previous year. The Wholesale business, which was 52 percent the largest share of the total proceeds, recorded a decline of 6.1 percent. The Direct Consumer area was able to achieve sales pari compared to 2023 thanks to good business in South and Eastern Europe in South and Eastern Europe. Consistent, the proceeds grew by 3.4 percent.

Before his time at Tom Tailor, Pörtner has been working in various positions since the early 2000s for fashion retailer Peek & Cloppenburg – Düsseldorf and Vienna. Most recently, from April 2018 to December 2022, he was active as Head of Sales International for Peek & Cloppenburg Austria & CEE.

Tom Tailor without Wholesale and D2C bosses

The report from Pörtner’s departure follows about half a year after the farewell to the head of wholesale David Meyer became known. As General Manager Business-to-Business, he was responsible for national and international sales activities in this segment. So far, Tom Tailor does not seem to have found a succession for Meyer. Until a new structure is implemented, the B2B sales teams report directly to Lenz.

Meyer’s farewell follows a number of changes in the company. At the beginning of December, Christopher Hallberg, who was previously responsible for controlling accounting, taxes, treasury and data and analytics, rose as head of finance and took over for Christian Werner, whose farewell became known in July last year. In this announcement it was also announced that the previous brand Director Men Reinhard Müller takes over all product areas as Director Brand. In addition, Lars came to the company Globisch as Director IT, became Kathrin Weller at Head of Marketing and was ordered Patrick Mittmann to the Head of People in the Mr.
