Tijs van den Brink switches from the public broadcaster to the CDA, just as Lucille Werner once did. Does he keep it up for longer than she? “A loss for journalism because he is an excellent interviewer.”

After being a face of the EO for 25 years, Tijs van den Brink decided to take a new path: he ventures the leap of public broadcaster to politics. He applied for a place on the CDA’s list of candidates, and that is why he is no longer active journalism for the EO. Only Adieu God? He still finishes.

Tijs is leaving

To find timely successors who can also take the place of Tijs during the coming election period, the EO now announces the news. “The EO was my home, journalism my profession. However, I never made a secret that draws politics,” the presenter responds.

He continues: “After the fall of the cabinet, I put on the bad shoes and written a letter of application to the CDA. Whether it finally comes to a room membership is determined by the CDA and the voter. That is exciting but I take this step with conviction.”

What does Tina think?

TV Autority Tina Nijkamp finds it surprising and immediately makes the link with Lucille Werner, who after four years has come to live in the room of redundancy. “Hopefully Tijs’s CDA career will take longer than Lucille’s. How would she actually go? Wrong money or new job?” She writes on her analysis channel.

Can Tijs actually go back to the EO if they don’t hire him at the CDA? “If Tijs does not end up in the Lower House, he and the EO will discuss the situation that has arisen. A return to his current work is excluded,” said the broadcaster.

Victor responds

TV critic Victor Vlam finds it a shame. “Big surprise! Tijs van den Brink is following Lucille Werner and also wants to go into the room on behalf of the CDA. A loss for journalism because he is really an excellent interviewer,” he says on X.

“It is a big gamble with his career because if this adventure fails, a return to journalism is not that easy. It is possible, see Frits Wester. But many people will never see you as an objective again.”

Margje follows

Victor thinks he already knows who the successor of Tijs is. “At the EO, Margje Fikse is his most logical successor. But the EO does lose a figurehead while elections are an important moment for a broadcaster to profile itself.”

He concludes: “The advantage for Tijs is that it is not difficult to surpass Lucille.”
