Two large countries are in trouble with chromosome tests.

The World Athletics World Championships will start in Tokyo on 13 September. All female athletes participating in the race will have to complete a sex test before the start of the competitions.

The test is mandatory for anyone who wants to compete in the women’s series at the World Championship or other events at the World Ranking points.

News agency Reuters Report now, just over two weeks before the test deadline, that the implementation of the tests has come into trouble in two major athletics, France and Canada.

French people cannot do tests in their home country at all, as the Ministry of Sports and Health Authorities have classified the tests as illegal. This forces French athletes to apply for a test abroad.

Abroad, the test can be performed, for example, in a training camp or in other international competition.

Director of Special Projects of the International Athletics Association WA Jackie Brock-Doyle told Reuters that WA cooperates with the French union so that athletes would be tested abroad before the World Cup.

In Canada, the problem is that the equipment used by the union did not receive WA approval. Some of the tests were already done in connection with the Canadian Championships, but they cannot be accepted as official.

WA announced a compulsory chromosome test in late July. The athlete is only tested once during his career.

The gender test can be given either from a saliva or blood sample.
