Striking: Art Rooijakkers has not appeared all week as a presenter of News of the Day, but is just in the country. He appeared at Lowlands this weekend. “Just like Malou Petter!”
It caused a surprise from day one: the presenters of Art Rooijakkers and Malou Petter who are presenting the conservative TV journal of SBS 6 as progressive. An untenable situation, it now appears. Malou had her contract with Talpa dissolved and Art would also consider his future with News of the Day.
Together on Lowlands
Strikingly enough, Art has not appeared all week as a presenter and his management and SBS 6 keep their lips together. In any case, the presenter is not abroad, because this weekend he appeared with his new wife at Lowlands. Who was there too? Malou Petter.
TV authority Tina Nijkamp finds it salient. She writes on her analysis canal: “No news from the day before Malou and Art last week, but Lowlands this weekend. Art with his wife, Malou with girlfriend on the road. Would they have drunk and talked to another drink together?”
Lump sum
It seems that the absence of art has to do with an exit strategy, Tina said in her podcast Tina’s TV UPDATE. “We’re going to see how things end, but there seems to be something going on. Maybe there is now negotiations about a lump sum, because I think I know for sure that Art is not going to say, just like Malou.”
Why not? “I think his contract with Talpa is too lucrative for that. You have to think of a few tons, I suspect, what he earns there, because why would he have left RTL, where he naturally earned it. At the NPO he was of course also on that maximum WNT standard. It is now about 246 thousand euros.”
Expensive separation
The fact that it is said that three tons are not just giving up art, Tina thinks. “Why would you, if you have had a divorce, have two school -going children, you just got married. That is quite an uncertain future then and also a freelance job at BNR, what ART does, of course does not yield that much. You cannot pay the mortgage of that.”
Colleague media aritor Victor Vlam also expects Art currently to be in a discussion with Talpa. “It is also possible that the knot has already been made. But they have not yet announced it because they are negotiating a lump sum,” he says in the podcast Victor explains TV.
Lower salary
It is also possible that Art will do other things for Talpa, says Victor. “Maybe if he gives up news of the day, he must settle for a slightly lower salary, but he can stay with Talpa to implement other plans. Negotiations could be done about that. That could possibly be going on now.”
His position with News of the Day is in any case untenable, he concludes. “By staying away, he makes it clear that he cannot agree with the course of the program. I also don’t see that course changing drastically considering the viewing figures. If Art does return, then it is obvious for the viewer that he is not in place there.”
